Aussie Day

In the week leading up to Australia Day, the girls and I tried to get a handle on the best ways to celebrate. While we expected something like July 4th, Aussie Day vibes were more Labor Day as locals enjoyed a day off with a cold beer and a BBQ at home. Nevertheless, bars and beaches were packed with young people trying to participate in the festivities.

After extensive research––mostly consisting of asking every local we passed what the hotspots were––we decided to grab mimosas (and burgers) at the Glemore Hotel. The rooftop was quite a scene with a beautiful view of the Opera House.

Next we headed to the Bucket List on Bondi. This vibrant bar was basically a fashion show as everyone sported his or her best summer look––turns out Australia Day is not for the unfashionable. While some ladies rocked denim, many wore sundresses and sandals or sneakers.

Planning the perfect Aussie Day outfit definitely took some thought. Not knowing where the day would take us, I decided on a light, linen wrap-dress, platform sandals and a bathing suit underneath––just in case the beach was too hard to resist.

Still trying to get the hang of Australian culture, but there’s no better way to do so than immersing myself in it. Australia Day was definitely a good start.

With Love,

Jules
